Specification

The 6-Pin J1708 female connector is with a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring to the right place after plugging to a 6-Pin J1708 male receptacle assures that the connector won’t come unplugged accidentally.

The ends of Deutsch 6-Pin J1708 and 9-Pin J1939 connectors can be overmolded or not, according to your needs. If the ends are overmolded, the cables are more sturdy and durable. If not overmolded, the price can be lower because the raw material and labour cost is saved.

The Deutsch 9 Pin J1939 male connector of this cable is Type 1, so its Pin F is with bigger diameter. Type 1 or Type 2 J1939 9-Pin female sockets can be inserted into Type 1 J1939 9-Pin male receptacles.

Application

The common application is to connect telematics or fleet management devices to older 6 pin round diagnostic connector in medium and heavy duty vehicles model years from the early-to-mid-2000s.

This Deutsch 6 Pin J1708 Y Cable allows port relocation or connection of multiple devices. This Y cable is for older medium and heavy duty vehicles model years from the early-to-mid-2000s that have the J1708 6 pin diagnostic port adjacent to the clutch pedal or in some other inconvenient location. It is also for vehicles that require multiple devices be connected to the 6 Pin J1708 diagnostic port. This Y cable splits the 6-Pin J1708 diagnostic port, allowing one J1708 port at the original location and another 9-Pin J1939 port connected to an ELD or another device which has a 9-Pin J1939 port.

This cable will also allow 9-Pin J1939 diagnostic devices/tools or scanners or fault code readers (with the appropriate software) to connect to commercial vehicles with the 6-Pin J708 diagnostic ports.
