Overview

The XCU card provides the clock signal for the equipment and implements higher / lower order cross-connect grooming.

The XCU card has two major functional modules: the clock module and the crossconnect module.

Clock Module Functions

Processes the S1 information; receives the 8kHz line synchronization timing signal provided by each aggregate card and each tributary card.
Provides the 38.88MHz synchronization clock, 8MHz overhead clock and 8kHz timing for each aggregate card and each tributary card.
Provides the status indication signal of the XCU card for each card connected to the XCU card, so as to control the synchronization timing of each card.

Cross-connect module functions

Provides the 1024×1024 VC-4 higher order cross-connect function.
Provides the 8064×8064 VC-12 lower order cross-connect function.
Processes tributary unit pointers for 128 VC-4s.
Supports the lower order path protection ring for the E1 service with a bandwidth of no less than 40 VC-4s.
Supports the sub-network connection protection (SNCP) function.
Terminates the path overheads (B3) of 128 VC-4s .
Processes the SALM bus output by each aggregate card and tributary card; implements the APS protocol conversion; and performs the MS SPRING function together with aggregate cards and tributary cards.
Processes the PALM bus output by each aggregate card and tributary card; performs the UPSR function of the system.
