Oxidation method

Using artificial method to produce an oxide film (Al2O3) on the surface of aluminum and its alloy products, and different colors are applied to improve the abrasion resistance of aluminum material, prolong the service life and add luster and luster. The basic process of oxidation coloring is process of surface treatment, oxidation, coloring and subsequent water sealing and organic coating.

The oxidation of aluminum

The surface of aluminum maintains a layer of 10 ~ 100 exoxide film under natural conditions, and the artificial oxide film is used to control the film thickness from 0.5 to 250 microns according to different purposes. The method of artificial membrane generation is chemical oxidation and electrochemical oxidation (i.e. anodic oxidation).

Chemical oxidation

The aluminum or aluminum alloys that are treated with the surface are chemically reacted in an oxidation solution containing oxidants and active agents to form an oxide film. The effect of the active agent is to partially dissolve the oxide film in the process of generation, producing the pores, so that the oxidation continues and the oxide film thickens. There are many kinds of oxidation solutions, often with chromate as an oxidant and carbonate as the active agent.

Anodic oxidation

It is usually carried out in electrolyte solutions such as sulfuric acid, oxalic acid or chromic acid. With aluminum as anode and lead as cathode, under the action of dc field, the anion (OH) is moved to the anode, and the oxygen is produced in the anode and the aluminum is used as the anode to produce the oxide film. The acid can partially dissolve the oxide film in the electrolyte and produce the pores, so that the oxidation reaction can be further developed. This method enables the surface of aluminum to form a porous structure, which can be treated with various coloring and can be used as the base of spray painting.
