Do I lose brightness when using optics?

Optical efficiency is determined by measuring the ratio of light collected after the optic and dividing

by the total amount of light without an optic directly at the LED source.

1, The simple answer is yes. Carclo optics uses a technology called total internal reflection (TIR), so

there is light lose during the collimation process.

2, The lens itself clips securely into the holder, but the holder does need to be externally adhered.

In the case of LED stars, optic holders have four legs that sit down into the grooves of the star board.
