Introduction:
Polyamides, commonly known as Nylon, with an English name of Polyamide (PA) and a density of 1.15g/cm3, are thermoplastic resins with repeated amide group -- [NHCO] -- on the molecular backbone, including aliphatic PA, aliphatic PA and aromatic PA. Aliphatic PA varieties are numerous, with large yield and wide application. Its name is determined by the specific number of carbon atoms in the synthetic monomer. It was invented by the famous American chemist Carothers and his scientific research team.
Nylon is a term for polyamide fiber (polyamide), which can be made into long or short fibers. Nylon is the trade name of polyamide fiber, also known as Nylon. Polyamide (PA) is an aliphatic Polyamide linked by an amide bond [NHCO].
Advantages:
| 1 | Elongation at break: The elongation at break of polyamide fiber varies with different varieties. The elongation at break of strong fiber is lower between 10~25%, and 25~40% for general fabric. |
| 2 | Wear resistance: Polyamide fiber has the best wear resistance of all textile fibers. Under the same conditions, its wear resistance is 10 times of cotton, 20 times of wool and 50 times of rayon. |
| 3 | Fatigue resistance: Polyamide fiber has good fatigue resistance due to its good elastic recovery rate. Its fatigue resistance is close to that of polyester fiber and higher than that of other chemical fibers and natural fibers. |
| 4 | Breaking strength: the breaking strength of polyamide fiber for garment use is 5.0~6.4g/d, and that of high strength silk for industrial use is 7~ 9.5g /d or even higher. The breaking strength in wet condition is about 85%~90% of that in dry condition. |
| 5 | Elastic recovery rate: polyamide fiber has excellent elastic recovery. When the elongation of long fiber is 10%, the elastic recovery rate is 99%. |
