We call auger feeders horizontal is based on 2 points. One is motor installation way, the other is the whole conveyor direction. Usually in oilfield or special treatment plant the conveyor is set in horizontal direction.

Auger feeders are also referred to Screw conveyors. The auger feeder assembly consists of motor, gear box and the screw conveyor impeller. The conveyor impeller shape is similar with centrifuge conveyor. Impellers welded togehter on the central shaft, or there is shaftless option. Auger feeder is driven by motor rotating at a certain speed. For example, some rotates 20 rpm, some turn 60 rpm. Different material and working condition request different rotation speed.

So, the auger feeders can be designed as VFD. That means the motor and the control panel can realize variable frequency during screw conveyor operation. We can adjust the screw conveyor according to practical condition. Most of screw conveyor is used along with drilling mud solids control system. This will help users to get the disposed solids or waste transferred in time. And under the transfer of screw conveyor, the drilling fluids or waste is easy to handle for further process.

The Auger feeders must be equipped with the cover. Some of cover is plate or sheet connected with folding pin and mounted by bolts. Some covers are steel/grating to help better observation and safe operation to avoid any people injury. Furthermore, the cover can be joint with the emergency stop switch to avoid any accident during auger feeders running.

Auger feeders are usually fed by disposed solids or waste from the solids control, and some sludge material to be processed. From a concentrate place to the feeders. Then the feeders can transfer materials to cuttings dryer, to other tanks or places for further handling. Auger feeder can transfer mixture of solid and fluid, can transfer solid. Different feeders size and length decide the handling capacity.

Furthermore, the rotation speed is another issue affecting the screw conveyor capacity. If screw conveyor was designed with same diameter and length, more swift convey leads higher efficiency. That means in unit time the transfer quantity much larger. But of course, based on the rated and permitted handling rate under certain motor and mechanical design
