Hydraulic cylinder seal kits are used to seal the gap between different parts of the hydraulic cylinder. The function of hydraulic cylinder seal kits is to prevent oil leakage, to assure the working pressure of the hydraulic system, to maintain its power.
Boom Cylinder seal kit is, as the name suggests, fitted into the boom cylinder.
There are regularly three cylinders for the excavator, boom cylinder, arm cylinder, bucket cylinder.
Arm cylinder is the top one, and it's usually be called as top cylinder;
The bucket cylinder is the one that connects and controls the bucket.
Boom cylinder is the one (or the two) near the cabin. Usually, there is one piece boom cylinder for the small excavator under 10-tun; the bigger excavator's two pieces boom cylinders. But there is an exception too when the driver will remove one piece for a special purpose, say at some particular working place, it is convenient to work by one cylinder. Soft remind: all refit job should be operated by an experienced technician.

When you open and repair the cylinder, please follow below operation:

1. Take off the cylinder from the machine.

2. Remove the head assembly nad the rod assembly from the stick cylinder group.

3.If it always happens that the seal kit not perform well soon after it fitted, there maybe problem of the cylinder assembly itself. It is better to check the cylinder assembly whether need to change it.

4.Meansure the seal kits before fitting.

5.Install the seals.

After fix the cylinder assy, test it first before reinstall the stick culinder group on the machine.

Generally speaking, Elastomer seals made from nitrile rubber, Polyurethane or other materials are best in lower temperature environments, while seals made of Fluorocarbon Viton are better for higher temperatures. Metallic seals are also available and commonly use cast iron for the seal material.

Rod seals are dynamic seals and generally are single acting. The compounds of rod seals are nitrile rubber, Polyurethane, or Fluorocarbon Viton. Wipers / scrapers are used to eliminate contaminants such as moisture, dirt, and dust, which can cause extensive damage to cylinder walls, rods, seals and other components. The common compound for wipers is polyurethane. Metallic scrapers are used for sub zero temperature applications, and applications where foreign materials can deposit on the rod. The bearing elements / wear bands are used to eliminate metal to metal contact. The wear bands are designed as per the side load requirements. The primary compounds for wear bands are filled PTFE, woven fabric reinforced polyester resin and bronze.
