What is Satin Stainless Steel Sheet?

Satin, also known as brushed, is the result of the "brushing" of the stainless steel surface. Use a different abrasive, usually a roller brush or abrasive belt. This surface treatment weakens and limits the reflection of light, reduces brightness and improves uniformity, which will be very beneficial for use in different environments.

How to satin finish stainless steel sheet?

1: If it starts from a particularly rough surface or has protrusions to remove, such as welds, we can first use a radial sander and a ceramic fiber abrasive disc with a grit between 60 and 180, depending on what to remove volume of material.

2: To remove the scratches from the previous process, we need to use a finer grit abrasive, but don't overdo it. Ideally, a jump of no more than 3 grits (intermediate prep grit is usually between 180 and 400) is ideal to properly homogenize the rough with the rest of the surface, resulting in a radially ground finish.

3: Finally, use a polished satin and abrasive wool roller or sleeve with 180 medium or 240 fine grit depending on the previous process and the level of finish we want. This roller or drum sanding system will provide a straight directional finish, with a radial sander to eliminate the circular pattern of the previous process, "brush" with a gentle back and forth motion to avoid tool edges or marks, we'll get a perfect smooth surface, stainless steel decorative surface.
