1. Working conditions and requirements of cylinder head

The cylinder head bears the mechanical load caused by gas force and fastening the cylinder head bolts, and also bears high thermal load due to contact with high-temperature gas. In order to ensure good sealing of the cylinder, the cylinder head shall neither be damaged nor deformed. Therefore, the cylinder head shall have sufficient strength and stiffness. In order to make the temperature distribution of the cylinder head as uniform as possible and avoid hot cracks between the intake and exhaust valve seats, the cylinder head should be well cooled.

2. Cylinder head material

The cylinder head is generally cast by high-quality gray cast iron or alloy cast iron, while the gasoline engine used for cars mostly uses aluminum alloy cylinder heads.

3. Cylinder head structure

Cylinder head is a box part with complex structure. It is machined with intake and exhaust valve seat holes, valve guide holes, spark plug mounting holes (gasoline engines) or injector mounting holes (diesel engines). The cylinder head is also provided with a water jacket, an air inlet and an exhaust port, and a combustion chamber or a part of the combustion chamber. If the camshaft is installed on the cylinder head, the cylinder head is also provided with a cam bearing hole or a cam bearing seat and its lubricating oil passage.
