A cement mill is the equipment used to grind the hard, nodular clinker from the cement kiln into the fine grey powder that is cement. Most cement is currently ground in ball mills and also vertical roller mills which are more effective than ball mills.

The operation characteristics of cement ball mill system were analyzed, and research on control of optimal cement ball mill load was conducted in the method of ball mill load measurement through its noise, ball mill load online optimization, Fuzzy Sample PI control algorithm and development of human machine interface. To minimize costs, expansibility of available DCS was fully utilized in the hardware and software implementation of cement ball mill load control system. A complete load control system of cement ball mill was developed and field operation demonstrated its satisfactory performance in increasing cement production, reducing energy cost and ensuring cement quality.
