Because the surface of the material has undergone a photochemical change, very little heat is transferred to the material and it remains almost intact and unchanged. Products made of highly sensitive or unique materials, such as aircraft cables, translucent or colored tubes for a variety of industries, medical plastics for invasive applications, flame retardant plastics for electronic casings and even glass, can be safely identified with high resolution and contrast. Through photochemical effects, UV creates a contrast and permanent color change on the surface of the processed product, rather than destroying or replacing the material, leaving the product itself intact. Laser imprinting can now be done on silicone or white polyamide, and glass can be left with filaments and bright laser imprinting without breaking.
