Cryogenic treatment refers to materials that need to be processed
in an environment of -190°C to -230°C. Suitable for all metal or
non-metal materials, such as alloys, carbides, plastics (nylon and
Teflon), aluminum, ceramics, etc.
Ultra-cryogenic technology: When the metal is hardened by heat
treatment to the cooling process, the alloy and carbon are
dissolved and combined and diffused to form austenite. During the
cooling process, martensite is formed due to low temperature
compression. Martensite), and because the final transformation
point (Mf) of martensite is very low. The hardness, wear resistance
and service life of the metal, and the volume change caused by the
instability of austenite is prone to structural transformation,
causing metal fragmentation. Furthermore, there are many physical
properties, especially thermal properties and magnetic properties.
Metal cryogenic treatment originated in Switzerland for more than
one hundred years. At that time, it was discovered that tools that
had been refrigerated in ice and snow could last longer. Swiss army
knives, clocks, and Gillette blades were all beneficiaries of this
technique at that time. Beginning in the 1960s, the United States,
the Soviet Union, Japan and other countries began to study metal
cryogenic technology. A large number of experiments found that
cryogenic treatment effectively extended the life of tools. In the
1980s, several specialized cryogenic companies in the United
States, such as 3xistruments&Toling, Material Improvement, and
Ame Cry, carried out operations on cutting tools, abrasive tools,
gears, special springs, cemented carbide, high-speed steel, and
cobalt-based alloys. Cold treatment, experimental results show that
cryogenic treatment has a significant effect on the service life of
the above-mentioned material parts, which can be increased by 5 to
10 times.
Domestic research was launched in the middle of the 20th century,
using alcohol + dry ice to conduct dimensional stability tests and
applications of molds, measuring tools, and tools. In the 1990s,
various institutes began to conduct sufficient research and
analysis on high-speed steel, die steel, cemented carbide and other
materials. Research has shown that cryogenic treatment can improve
the wear resistance, toughness, hardness, dimensional stability,
and corrosion resistance of these materials. All play a role in
varying degrees.
