Brembo V6 6 Pot Brake Caliper For-Audi A4 B9 2019 362*32mm Disc
disc brake
The rotating element in the friction pair of a disc brake is a
metal disc that works on the end face, which is called a brake
disc. The fixing elements have a variety of structural types, which
can be roughly divided into two categories. One is the brake pads
composed of friction pads with small working area and their metal
back plates, and there are 2 to 4 in each brake. These brake pads
and their actuation devices are housed in caliper-shaped brackets
that span both sides of the brake disc, collectively referred to as
the caliper. This kind of brake composed of a brake disc and a
caliper is called a caliper disc brake. The metal back plate and
friction plate of another type of fixed element are also
disc-shaped, and all the working surfaces of the brake disc can be
in contact with the friction plate at the same time. This kind of
brake is called a full-disc brake. Caliper disc brakes were only
used as central brakes in the past, but are now increasingly used
as wheel brakes on all types of cars and trucks. Full disc brakes
are used as wheel brakes in only a few cars (mainly heavy duty
vehicles). Only caliper disc brakes are introduced here. Caliper
disc brakes can be divided into fixed caliper disc type and
floating caliper disc type.
Fixed caliper disc brake
The structure diagram of the fixed caliper disc brake is shown in
the figure on the right. The brake caliper body 5 straddled on the
brake disc 1 is fixedly installed on the axle 6, and it cannot
rotate or move along the axis of the brake disc. side. When
braking, the brake oil enters the two connected hydraulic chambers
in the caliper body from the master cylinder (brake master
cylinder) through the oil inlet 4, and presses the brake blocks 3
on both sides to be fixedly connected to the wheels. the brake disc
1 to generate braking.
This kind of brake has the following shortcomings: there are many
oil cylinders, which makes the structure of the brake caliper
complex; the oil cylinders are located on both sides of the brake
disc, and must be connected by the inner oil passage or external
oil pipe of the caliper spanning the brake disc, which makes the
brake The size of the caliper is too large to be installed in the
rim of a modern car; when the thermal load is large, the brake
fluid in the oil cylinder and the oil pipe or oil passage across
the brake disc is easily vaporized by heat; if it is to be used as
a parking brake, it must be Add a mechanically actuated parking
brake caliper.
Floating Caliper Disc Brakes
The brake caliper body 2 is connected to the axle 7 through the
guide pin 6 and can move axially relative to the brake disc 1 . The
brake caliper body is only provided with oil cylinders on the inner
side of the brake disc, while the outer brake pads are attached to
the caliper body. When braking, the hydraulic oil enters the brake
cylinder through the oil inlet 5, pushes the piston 4 and the
friction block on it to move to the right, and presses it on the
brake disc, so that the cylinder and the brake caliper body as a
whole move to the left along the pin. Move until the friction pad
on the right side of the disc also presses onto the disc, grips the
disc and brakes it.
In contrast to fixed-caliper disc brakes, floating-caliper disc
brakes have smaller axial and radial dimensions and less chance of
the brake fluid being heated and vaporized. In addition, when the
floating caliper disc brake is used as both the service and the
parking brake, it is only necessary to install some parking brake
mechanical transmission parts near the service brake caliper
cylinder to push the cylinder piston. Therefore, since the 1970s,
floating caliper disc brakes have gradually replaced fixed caliper
disc brakes.
Features of Disc Brakes
Compared with drum brakes, disc brakes have the following
advantages: Generally, there is no friction boosting effect, so the
brake performance is less affected by the friction coefficient,
that is, the performance is more stable; the performance is less
reduced after immersion in water, and only one or two passes are
required. It can be restored to normal after only one braking
operation; under the condition of the same output braking torque,
the size and mass are generally small; the thermal expansion of the
brake disc along the thickness direction is extremely small, and
the brake clearance will not be obvious like the thermal expansion
of the brake drum. The brake pedal travel is too large due to the
increase; it is easier to realize the automatic adjustment of the
gap, and other maintenance and repair operations are also simpler.
For caliper disc brakes, because the brake disc is exposed, there
is also the advantage of good heat dissipation. The disadvantage of
disc brakes is that their efficiency is low, so when they are used
in hydraulic braking systems, the brake actuation line pressure is
relatively high, and servo devices are generally used.
At present, disc brakes have been widely used in cars, but in
addition to being used for all wheels on some high-performance
cars, most of them are only used as front wheel brakes, and
cooperate with the drum brakes of the rear wheels, so that the car
has a higher standard. directional stability when moving. In
trucks, disc brakes are also used, but there is still a
considerable distance from popularization.
