EVA hot melt adhesive is a 100% solids, clear, flexible ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. It is usually classified by percent VA content and melt flow rate (MFR) or melt index (MI). The most commonly used EVA contains 19% to 28% VA. Most MI values are between 3 and 2500.

In EVA-based HMA formulations, higher VA content leads to higher clarity, greater polarity, greater flexibility and better substrate wetting. The MI value is a simple indicator of molecular weight. Lower MI values reflect higher molecular weight, cohesion and internal strength.
