1. Nozzle and Flow Regulating Arrangement (Spear)
The nozzles are used to increase the kinetic energy of the water flow which will hit the vanes or blades attached to the runner.
The amount of water hitting the bucket is controlled by the spear. Spears are mounted inside the nozzles to regulate the flow of water that will strike the runner blades. The nozzle containing the spear is pictured below.

2. Runner and Buckets
The runner is the rotating part of the turbine. It is a disc with a number of evenly spaced buckets fixed around its periphery.
Buckets are made of two hemispherical bowls joined together. Each bucket has a wall between two hemispherical bowls called a diverter.
The splitter splits the jet of water hitting the bucket into two equal parts, and the jet of water is ejected from the outer edge of the bucket.
