M2 Steel Chemical Composition:

1. Carbon: 0.80%-0.90%
2. Silicon: 0.20%-0.45%
3. Manganese: 0.15%-0.40%
4. Sulfur: ≤0.030%
5. Phosphorus: ≤0.030%
6. Chromium: 3.80%-4.40%
7. Nickel: ≤0.30%
8. Copper: ≤0.25%
9. Vanadium: 1.75%-2.20%
10. Molybdenum: 4.50%-5.50%
11. Tungsten: 5.50%-6.75%

M2 Steel Properties:

• The hardness of original: ≤255HB
• The temperature of quenching: 1220℃-1240℃

About the heat treatment of M2 steel:

• Anneal: Heat it until the temperature at the range of 800℃ - 850℃, then make it cold slowly.
  
• Quenching: Heat it until the temperature at the range of 1160℃ - 1220℃, then do the job of oil quenching.
  
• Tempering: Heat it until the temperature at the range of 550℃ - 580℃, then use the way of air cooling.

M2 Steel Applications:

Cold forging die, fine die, powder pressing die, etc., shearing die, adding plastic mold of glass fiber. Suitable for vibration and impact loads: deep drawing dies and punching dies. Metal cutting saw blades, cold heading and extrusion tools.
