Grade 409 / 409L is a titanium stabilized Ferritic stainless steel, most commonly known for use in automotive exhaust systems. It features good mechanical properties and high temperature corrosion resistance. As a matter of fact, 409 / 409L as a chromium stainless steel can also be used in applications where weldability and corrosion protection are demanded. Although it is susceptible to rust formation, rarely used for decoration purpose, 409 / 409L stainless steel demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance against gas corrosion.
