The HDL-500X uses a xenon lamp. Because the advantage of xenon lamp is that the color temperature is close to direct sunlight. In addition, there are good advantages in image quality, as shown by the fact that there is a high color rendering index that works perfectly with the image processor.

This light source host can also automatically adjust the brightness to ensure that it provides the best level of illumination at any given time. In special cases, the illumination level can be adjusted manually via the light source control panel.

The processor has a signal processing circuit that is provided with a digital signal processor. The digital processor generates a coarse video signal that is indirectly displayable on a video screen from image signals generated by a charge coupled device sensor .An auxiliary circuit has a correction circuit that generates another coarse video signal that is directly displayable on the video screen included for the following: (a) video endoscope (b) a camera for an endoscope.

The IDL-500X is an endoscopic light source built around a xenon lamp. Xenon is specified for one reason above all: its colour temperature is close to direct sunlight, and its high colour rendering index means tissue colour is reproduced as it actually is when paired with a matched image processor. The unit also adjusts brightness automatically to suit special case conditions, which keeps exposure stable as the operative field changes.

Operation and Maintenance

Check the light cable for broken fibres — a degraded cable makes even a good lamp look dim.
