The product is light yellow or red-brown oily liquid; it will gradually turn into brown color when it is exposed to sunlight or air. The density of the product is 0.987-0.994g/cm3, the melting point is -57, the boiling point is 196, 156 (250mm Hg), 86 (15 mm Hg) and 79.2 (10 mmHg). It is soluble in the organic solvents such as ethanol, and chloroform while it is insoluble in water.

Applications:

* As an Intermediate: In organic synthesis, N-Methylaniline is an important intermediate in the manufacture of dyes,
and other chemical products.

* Solvent and Acid Absorbent: It is used as a solvent or acid absorbent in certain chemical reactions.

* Gasoline Additive: In some cases, N-Methylaniline is used as an additive to enhance the octane rating of gasoline.
