Duplex stainless steel A815 UNS S32205 is an extremely corrosion resistant, work hardenable alloy. Its microstructure consists of a mixture of austenite and ferrite phases. Therefore, duplex stainless steels combine the properties of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels.

Duplex Steel S32205 welded pipe fittings will last longer even when exposed to harsh environmental conditions such as salt water or high pressure/temperature as their strength levels are higher than other materials such as carbon steel or aluminum alloys. The addition of molybdenum provides excellent protection against corrosive elements such as salt water or acidic media that can damage other materials over time.

UNS S32205 and UNS S31803 are both duplex stainless steel grades, but there are some differences between them. UNS S32205 has a higher nitrogen content and slightly higher chromium and molybdenum contents, which improves corrosion resistance and strength compared to UNS S31803. UNS S32205 has a higher minimum yield strength and is generally considered to be more resistant to stress corrosion cracking.
