Enhancing soil-available potassium:
Potassium humate helps minimize potassium leaching and fixation in
the soil, allowing crops to absorb and utilize potassium more
efficiently.
Soil conditioning and crop support:
It contributes to improved soil structure, stimulates healthy plant
development, and enhances crop tolerance to environmental stress
while improving overall yield quality.
Versatile applications:
Potassium humate can be blended with urea, phosphate fertilizers,
and other nutrients to produce high-efficiency compound
fertilizers. It is also widely used as an additive in petroleum
drilling fluids.
Higher fertilizer utilization:
Compared with conventional potassium fertilizers, potassium humate
significantly improves potassium use efficiency, reaching
utilization rates of approximately 87%–95%, making it a highly effective nutrient source for agriculture.

01
Humic acid acts as a soil conditioning agent. In current fertilization practices, the overuse of inorganic fertilizers and insufficient application of organic materials is still very common, especially in grain crop production. If this situation persists over a long period, it will inevitably damage soil structure, resulting in soil compaction and a gradual decline in soil fertility. Humic acid plays an important role in promoting the formation of stable soil aggregate structures, reducing soil bulk density, increasing cation exchange capacity, and adjusting soil pH, thereby improving the soil’s ability to retain water, nutrients, heat, and air.
In addition, after humic acid is applied to the soil, it provides abundant carbon sources and energy for soil microorganisms, encouraging their metabolic activity and reproduction, and helping to optimize the soil microenvironment. This function is particularly critical for soil conditioning, fertility restoration, and sustainable soil productivity.
02
Humic acid functions as a fertilizer efficiency enhancer. Under normal fertilization conditions, the seasonal utilization rates of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are only about 25–35%, 10–25% and 30–50% respectively, with the overall utilization rate remaining at approximately 25–35%. In other words, only around 30% of applied nutrients are taken up by crops, while nearly 70% are lost through various processes, highlighting the importance of improving fertilizer utilization efficiency. Humic acid provides multiple benefits, including controlled nitrogen release, improved phosphorus availability and efficiency, reduced potassium loss, and activation of trace elements, which together significantly enhance fertilizer performance and ensure a more balanced nutrient supply.
03
Humic acid is an effective adjuvant for pesticide applications. Pesticides or fertilizers containing humic acid offer multiple benefits, including improving crop disease resistance, enabling gradual release and enhanced effectiveness of pesticides, lowering pesticide toxicity, extending residual activity, and increasing overall application safety. Experimental research indicates that humic acid acts as a natural, non-toxic pesticide synergist. Studies have also demonstrated that foliar application of humic acid fertilizer significantly reduces the incidence of bacterial wilt in peppers, rust disease in peanuts, and fruit rot rates.
04
Humic acid acts as an effective detoxifying agent for environmental pollutants. The safety of agricultural production largely depends on the quality of the growing environment, which is a critical priority in modern agriculture. Humic acid contains abundant active functional groups, including carboxyl and phenolic groups, and exhibits properties such as hydrophilicity, adsorption capacity, ion exchange, complex formation, and redox activity. Its strong ability to bind metal ions and organic contaminants plays an important role in mitigating heavy metal and organic pollution. Soluble chromium and cadmium are among the most toxic heavy metals. Research has shown that under low pH conditions, the active functional groups in humic acid can act as reducing agents, converting Cr(VI) into Cr(III), which is then immobilized in the soil through humic acid chelation and adsorption by soil colloids, thereby significantly lowering chromium levels in the soil solution. Consequently, after humic acid application, toxic heavy metal ions in the soil are effectively adsorbed and stabilized, resulting in a substantial reduction in their toxicity.
05
Humic acid functions as an effective soil water-retention agent. It is an organic, high-molecular-weight hydrophilic colloid with strong water absorption and storage capacity. In comparison, clay particles typically absorb only about 50% to 60% water, whereas humic acid materials are capable of absorbing approximately 500% to 600%. This means the water-holding capacity of humic acid is about 7 to 10 times greater than that of clay particles. When humic acid soil conditioners or humic acid-based fertilizers are applied, their relatively high humic acid content helps enhance the soil’s ability to absorb and retain moisture, thereby improving overall soil water conditions.
