API 5L X65 carbon steel seamless pipe, internally clad with a metallurgically bonded layer of Inconel 625, combines the high strength and cost-effectiveness of the steel substrate with the exceptional corrosion, erosion, and temperature resistance of the nickel alloy liner. This bifunctional design provides durable, economical performance in demanding environments (e.g., sour service, subsea flowlines, acid injection, high-chloride process piping) where solid alloy construction is cost-prohibitive and bare carbon steel would fail.

Key Purpose of Cladding:
Corrosion Protection: Shields the underlying X65 steel from aggressive environments that would rapidly corrode it, such as:
Acids (e.g., in acid injection lines)
"Sour Service" (H₂S - Hydrogen Sulfide)
Seawater or chloride-rich fluids (offshore/subsea)
High-temperature oxidation/corrosion
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) environments
Economic Efficiency: Provides the necessary corrosion resistance where needed (the internal bore) using only a thin layer (typically 2-4mm) of expensive Inconel 625, instead of constructing the entire pipe from solid alloy, which is significantly more costly.
Mechanical Integrity: Maintains the high strength, pressure containment capability, and structural support provided by the thick-walled API 5L X65 steel pipe.
Resistance to Specific Degradation: Offers excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and erosion-corrosion in challenging flow conditions.
High-Temperature Performance: Enhances performance in elevated temperature service beyond what carbon steel can withstand.
When to Use Cladding vs. Solid Alloy? Advantages?
1>. Cladding: High-pressure vessels, heat exchangers, large
structures needing corrosion resistance.
2>. Solid Alloy: Small components, extreme temperatures/purity
(e.g., semiconductor furnaces).
