The system voltage from the power fusion circuitry powers the high voltage generator, which is controlled by the safety logic.

In monitoring mode, the generator is turned off and the high voltage capacitors are short-circuited via the discharge/drain resistors located on the Defi board.

When the high voltage charge sequence is started, the primary channel starts the generator and controls the voltage charge of the capacitors. The auxiliary channel acts as a safety processor during the entire defibrillation process.

► Warning

Before handling high voltage components such as high voltage capacitors, high voltage circuits, etc., use a high voltage probe (1000:1) to ensure that there is no voltage on the high voltage capacitors. High voltage components are marked with the "Danger High Voltage" symbol.

When connecting the high voltage probe, be careful not to touch the terminals and use suitable insulating material. When voltage is present, place the unit in a fully discharged high voltage capacitor state. If the capacitor is still charged, it can be discharged by connecting a drain resistor (e.g. 100 kOhm, 17 W) directly to the high voltage capacitor terminals for at least 30 seconds. Use caution when connecting the resistor and use suitable insulating material. When storing high voltage capacitors, always place them in a short circuit state. When reassembling the Cardio-Aid®, ensure that each rubber gasket is properly positioned.
