ASTM A182 F316Ti / UNS S31635 Slip On Stainless Steel Flanges Forged SORF Flange


ASTM A182 F316Ti stainless steel Flange. Titanium combines preferentially with Carbon (C) to form Titanium Carbides (TiC), preventing Chromium Carbide (Cr23C6) formation at grain boundaries during exposure to high temperatures (especially in the 425-860°C / 800-1580°F range), such as during welding or service. This prevents Sensitization and subsequent Intergranular Corrosion (IGC).


Key Properties of Using SS316Ti:

  • Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Similar to Type 316L in most environments (general corrosion, pitting/crevice in mild chlorides due to Mo). Superior to 316/316L in environments causing IGC after welding or high-temp exposure.
  • High Temperature Stability: Good strength and oxidation resistance up to ~870°C (1600°F). Titanium stabilization maintains corrosion resistance after high-temp exposure.
  • Good Fabricability/Weldability: Similar to 316/316L. Stabilization minimizes post-weld IGC risk, often eliminating need for post-weld heat treatment for thin sections.
  • Non-Magnetic: Austenitic structure.
