Product Description:
Hydrophilic Aluminum Foil is a special surface-treated aluminum foil, mainly used in heat exchangers (evaporators and condensers) of air conditioners and refrigeration equipment. Its core characteristic is "hydrophilicity", which enables water (especially condensed water) to spread quickly on the surface to form a water film instead of gathering into water droplets. This characteristic is crucial to improving heat exchange efficiency.
Core characteristics and working principles
Hydrophilicity: The surface is treated with hydrophilic coatings and other chemical treatments or anodizing processes to give the aluminum surface hydrophilic groups. When the water-based gas in the air condenses on the low-temperature heat exchanger surface, the condensed water will quickly spread evenly on the hydrophilic foil surface into a thin layer of water film instead of forming discrete water droplets.
Corrosion resistance: The coating usually also has certain
corrosion resistance, protecting the aluminum foil substrate from
condensed water, environmental moisture and corrosive substances in
the air, and extending the life of the heat exchanger.
Antibacterial property: Some advanced hydrophilic foils also add
antibacterial agents to inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold on
the surface of the heat exchanger, improve air quality and reduce
odor.
Key advantages of using hydrophilic foil
Improve heat exchange efficiency: Reduce wind resistance. Water film has much less resistance to air flow than water droplets, avoiding "wind blockage" caused by water droplets blocking the gap between fins, and ensuring sufficient air volume through the heat exchanger. Maintain dry area of fins: The water film flows away quickly, so that there are more dry areas on the surface of the fins to participate in heat exchange, while water droplets will cover part of the fin surface to hinder heat exchange.
Reduce energy consumption: Higher heat exchange efficiency directly means that when air conditioning/refrigeration equipment achieves the same effect, the workload of components such as compressors is reduced, thereby saving electricity.
Improve dehumidification capacity: Rapid removal of condensed water helps maintain the low temperature of the evaporator surface and enhances its ability to extract moisture from the air.
Reduce operating noise: Avoid the "crackling" or "watering" sound
caused by water droplets gathering, dripping or being scattered by
fan blades on the fins.
Extend equipment life: Anti-corrosion coating protects aluminum
foil and reduces the risk of heat exchanger leakage due to
corrosion. Antibacterial properties (if available) help maintain
system cleanliness.
Improve air quality: Inhibit bacterial and mold growth, reduce odor
and potential health risks.
Application:
Household air conditioners:Indoor unit evaporator: This is the main application scenario of hydrophilic foil. The hydrophilic property ensures that condensed water is quickly drained away, avoids the "water bridge" phenomenon (water droplets blocking the air duct), ensures air volume, and improves cooling/heating efficiency and dehumidification effect. At the same time, it reduces the "water" noise generated during operation.
Outdoor unit condenser (part): Under high humidity or specific working conditions, the condenser
may also condense. The use of hydrophilic foil helps drainage and
corrosion prevention.
Commercial central air conditioners: Evaporators and condenser coils of air-cooled modular units,
multi-split units, water-cooled units, etc.
Refrigeration equipment: Condensers or evaporators of refrigerators
and freezers; heat exchangers of dehumidifiers, chillers and other
equipment.
Automobile air conditioners: Evaporators and condensers of automotive air conditioning systems
