Refractory mortar can be divided into clay, high-alumina, siliceous and magnesium types according to the material. For example, ceramic-bonded refractory mortar needs to be hardened by ceramic bonding at high temperature, while chemical-bonded refractory mortar can be hardened by chemical reaction before it drops below the ceramic bonding temperature.

In addition, refractory mortar can maintain volume stability at high temperatures and has certain mechanical strength and slag resistance, which makes it widely used in the metallurgical industry.
