TOMUU U15A Solar Linear Actuator For Heliostat Angle Adjustment
Controlled Positioning with Hall Signal Feedback for Solar Tower Heliostats
The TOMUU U15A is a linear actuator developed for solar tower heliostat tracking, providing controlled linear movement for heliostat angle adjustment and positioning.
As the actuator extends or retracts, the linear movement is used by the heliostat mechanism to adjust the mirror angle. Standard Hall signal feedback supports movement and position monitoring within the heliostat control system.

Designed for Heliostat Angle Adjustment
In a solar tower system, each heliostat changes its mirror angle as the tracking system follows the required solar position. The linear actuator forms part of this positioning mechanism, extending or retracting to produce the required mechanical adjustment of the heliostat structure.
The U15A combines controlled linear movement with standard Hall signal feedback. The feedback signal can be used by the heliostat control system to monitor actuator movement during angle adjustment and positioning.
How Solar Tower Heliostat Tracking Works
In a solar tower system, heliostats continuously adjust their mirror orientation to direct sunlight toward the central receiver. The tracking system calculates the required mirror position, while the actuator provides the linear movement needed to change the heliostat angle.
For the U15A, Hall signal feedback provides movement information during extension and retraction, allowing the heliostat control system to monitor actuator movement as part of the positioning process.

Hall Signal Feedback for Heliostat Positioning
Hall signal feedback is the standard feedback configuration for the U15A. During actuator extension and retraction, the Hall signal provides movement information that can be used by the heliostat control system for position monitoring.
Actual heliostat positioning performance depends on the actuator configuration, control system, installation geometry and mechanical structure. These factors should be evaluated together according to the project requirements.
Load & Speed Configuration
| Code | Voltage | Push Load | Pull Load | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 24V DC | 3,300–4,700N | 3,300–4,700N | 1.17–3.34mm/s |
U15A Installation & Dimensions
The U15A minimum installation dimension is based on Stroke + 275mm ±5mm. The standard front mounting configuration uses a Ø14mm hole.
Stroke and installation dimensions should be confirmed according to the heliostat structure and required adjustment range before final actuator selection.
TOMUU Experience in Solar Thermal Projects
TOMUU actuator solutions have been applied in solar thermal tracking projects requiring mechanical positioning and controlled movement of heliostat structures.
Representative CSP Project — Tibet, China
TOMUU supplied actuator solutions for the tower CSP heliostat tracking project in Anduo, Tibet, located at approximately 4,650 meters above sea level.
The project shown here uses TOMUU U23D actuators. These images demonstrate TOMUU experience in solar thermal tracking applications and are not presented as a U15A installation.

Manufacturing & Engineering
TOMUU combines actuator manufacturing, application engineering and product testing to support solar thermal and heliostat tracking applications.

Heliostat actuator selection depends on more than load alone. Stroke, installation geometry, positioning requirements, environmental conditions and feedback configuration should be evaluated together according to the solar thermal project.
