• Function

1.Measuring intake manifold pressure: The MAP sensor is mainly used to measure the absolute pressure in the engine's intake manifold. This pressure value can reflect the amount of air entering the engine. Under different engine operating conditions, such as idling, acceleration, and deceleration, the pressure in the intake manifold will change accordingly, and the MAP sensor can accurately detect these changes.

2.Optimizing the fuel-air mixture: Based on the intake manifold pressure data measured by the MAP sensor, the engine control unit (ECU) can calculate the appropriate amount of fuel injection. By precisely adjusting the fuel-air mixture ratio, the engine can achieve optimal combustion efficiency, thereby improving engine performance, reducing fuel consumption, and minimizing harmful emissions.

3.Assisting in controlling the turbocharger: In turbocharged engines, the MAP sensor also plays a crucial role in the operation of the turbocharger. It helps the ECU monitor the boost pressure and adjust the operation of the turbocharger accordingly to ensure that the engine can obtain sufficient boost pressure under different working conditions, enhancing the engine's power output while preventing overboosting that could cause engine damage.
