Ammonium sulfate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula (NH4) 2SO4. It is a colorless crystal or white particle with no odor. Decompose above 280 ℃. Solubility in water: 70.6g at 0 ℃, 103.8g at 100 ℃. Insoluble in ethanol . The pH of a 0.1mol/L aqueous solution is 5.5. The relative density is 1.77. Refractive index 1.521. Ammonium sulfate is mainly used as fertilizer and is suitable for various soils and crops. It can also be used in textile, leather, medicine and other fields.

Ammonium sulfate is used as raw material for mining, and the rare earth elements in the ore soil are exchanged through ion exchange. After collecting the leachate for impurity removal, precipitation, pressing, and incineration, the rare earth ore is obtained. About 5 tons of ammonium sulfate are required to produce 1 ton of rare earth ore for mining.
