This document outlines the streamlined manufacturing process for applying decorative wood grain or marble patterns onto stainless steel plates. The core technology combines a PVD vacuum coating for the base color with a thermal transfer process for the detailed pattern.
Substrate Pretreatment → PVD Vacuum Coating → Thermal Transfer → Post-Processing & Packaging
1. Substrate Pretreatment
This critical first step prepares the stainless steel surface
(typically Grade 304 or 316).
Mechanical Finishing: The sheet is polished to a mirror or brushed to a hairline finish, defining the base gloss and texture.
Cleaning & Drying: The plate undergoes thorough chemical cleaning and drying to remove all oils and contaminants. A perfectly clean surface is essential for optimal PVD coating adhesion.
2. PVD Vacuum Coating
This step applies a hard, colored base layer.
Loading & Vacuum: Pretreated sheets are loaded into a PVD chamber, which is sealed and pumped to a high vacuum.
Plasma Etching & Coating: An argon plasma cleans the surface. Then, metal targets (e.g., Titanium) are ionized. By introducing reaction gases like Nitrogen, a hard, colored layer (e.g., Titanium Nitride) is deposited on the steel surface, creating colors like Champagne Gold or Black Titanium.
3. Thermal Transfer Process
This step applies the final wood or marble pattern.
Film Application: A specialized PET film, printed with the desired pattern, is applied to the PVD-coated surface.
Heating & Transfer: The sheet enters a thermal transfer oven. Under controlled heat and pressure, the ink on the film sublimates and permanently penetrates the PVD layer.
Cooling & Peel-off: After cooling, the carrier PET film is peeled away, revealing the finished pattern.
4. Post-Processing & Packaging
The final steps enhance durability and ensure quality.
Protective Coating: A clear, protective layer is applied to guard against scratches and corrosion.
Quality Inspection: Each sheet is inspected for color, pattern clarity, adhesion, and surface defects.
Packaging: A protective film is applied, and sheets are packed securely for shipment.
Unique Aesthetic and Sustainable Appeal
Our Patina Old Stainless Steel Sheets offer an instantly recognizable, profound aesthetic that combines timeless elegance with modern industrial charm. This collection features an artfully applied surface treatment that replicates the beautiful, natural aging of weathered metal, presenting deep, rich bronzes, charcoal grays, and subtle verdigris tones. This pre-patinated finish provides the coveted "lived-in" look of decades-old material without the long, unpredictable wait. It is an ideal solution for designers and architects seeking to imbue their projects with character, depth, and a narrative of history and authenticity, all while maintaining the inherent benefits of contemporary stainless steel substrates.
Material Versatility for Diverse Applications
We cater to a wide range of functional and budgetary requirements with our comprehensive selection of four core stainless steel grades. The 201 and 430 series provide a cost-effective solution for interior decorative applications, such as feature walls, furniture, and retail displays, where extreme corrosion resistance is less critical. For superior performance, our 304 series offers excellent all-around corrosion resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor use. For the most demanding environments, including coastal areas or settings with exposure to chlorides, our premium 316 series ensures maximum durability and pitting resistance. This versatility allows for creative freedom across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.
Durability, Performance, and Ease of Use
Beyond its striking appearance, this product line delivers the renowned durability and low-maintenance qualities of stainless steel. The patina finish is permanently bonded to the metal surface, ensuring color stability and resistance to flaking or peeling, unlike applied paints or coatings. The sheets are resistant to rust, staining, and are easy to clean, guaranteeing long-term performance with minimal upkeep. Furthermore, by choosing this pre-aged material, you actively contribute to sustainable design; it eliminates the need for virgin materials to achieve an antique look and is fully recyclable at the end of its long life cycle, offering a beautiful and responsible choice for forward-thinking projects.
