Practical Applications

In greenhouse and seedling cultivation, rock wool boards play an important role in creating a favorable growth environment. For greenhouses, they are often installed on walls and roofs as insulation layers. In winter, they reduce the loss of internal heat, ensuring that the temperature inside the greenhouse remains at a level suitable for crop growth, which is especially beneficial for the cultivation of off-season vegetables, flowers, and other crops. In summer, they block the penetration of external high temperatures, avoiding overheating inside the greenhouse that could affect crop development. For seedling work, some high-density rock wool boards, after special treatment to remove impurities, can be processed into seedling substrates. Compared with traditional soil, these substrates have better air permeability and water retention capabilities, and are sterile and free of pests and diseases—this not only promotes the healthy growth of seedlings (such as vegetable seedlings and succulent cuttings) but also reduces the risk of seedling diseases, improving the survival rate of seedlings.​

In livestock and aquaculture, rock wool boards also provide strong support for improving breeding conditions and efficiency. In livestock breeding, such as in chicken coops and pigsties, they are used as insulation and sound absorption layers for walls. In winter, the insulation performance of rock wool boards helps keep the breeding shed warm, reducing the energy consumption of livestock for keeping warm and thus lowering feed costs; in summer, they insulate against external heat, preventing livestock from suffering from heat stress that could affect their growth and reproduction (for example, avoiding a decline in the egg production rate of laying hens). At the same time, their sound absorption effect can isolate external noise, reducing the stress response of livestock caused by noise. In aquaculture, especially in northern regions, rock wool boards are used in the construction of thermal insulation sheds for overwintering aquaculture (such as for sea cucumbers and whiteleg shrimp). They prevent the water in the aquaculture pond from freezing in low temperatures, maintain a stable and suitable water temperature, and ensure the safe overwintering of aquatic products, avoiding economic losses caused by freezing damage to aquatic products.
