In terms of function, the gear pump has the advantages of simple structure, low cost, strong anti-pollution ability, and low requirements for the cleanliness of hydraulic oil, so it is suitable for providing energy for the auxiliary system of the excavator. For example, it can provide low-pressure oil (usually with an output pressure of 2-5MPa) for the pilot control circuit of the excavator, control the spool movement of the main distribution valve, and realize the operation control of the boom, stick, and other mechanisms; at the same time, it can also provide oil flow for auxiliary devices such as hydraulic oil coolers and filters, promote the circulation and cooling of hydraulic oil and the filtration of impurities, and maintain the normal working temperature (generally 30-80℃) and oil cleanliness of the hydraulic system. However, the gear pump has the disadvantages of large pressure and flow pulsation and relatively high noise, so it cannot meet the needs of the main operating system for high pressure and stable flow, and is usually only used in the main system of small excavators or the auxiliary circuit of medium and large excavators.
