Introduction:

Pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is an important pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate with a wide range of uses. Uses:

Pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is released from autoclaved spores of Thermobacterium stearophilum; it induces aggregation of chitosan-stabilized gold nanoparticles, causing a color change of the solution from red to blue. Used as a competitive inhibitor of bovine liver glutamate dehydrogenase. Used in the preparation of dipicolinato-lanthanum and transition metal ligand complexes.
