Galvanized steel sheet coils, with excellent corrosion resistance
and formability, serve as a core basic raw material in the
construction, home appliance, automobile, and other industries. The
slitting deep processing is a key procedure that longitudinally and
precisely cuts wide galvanized steel sheet coils into narrow-width
coils according to downstream demands. Its process characteristics
and application uses are as follows:
Specialized slitting equipment paired with cemented carbide
circular knives is adopted. During the slitting process, the width
tolerance of the strip can be precisely controlled (the
conventional tolerance is ±0.1–0.3mm), resulting in smooth,
burr-free, and curl-free cut edges, which eliminates the risk of
edge corrosion. Meanwhile, the slitting tension can be adjusted as
required to ensure the flatness of the slit narrow-width coils
without warping or distortion.
The entire slitting process adopts scratch-proof guide rollers and
flexible conveying design, which minimizes the abrasion or scratch
of the galvanized coating and color coating (for color-coated
galvanized coils). Some high-precision slitting production lines
are also equipped with edge deburring and passivation functions to
further enhance the edge corrosion resistance of the slit coils.
Wide-width galvanized steel sheet coils (e.g., 1000mm, 1250mm,
1500mm) can be slit into various narrow-width sizes according to
customers’ specifications, with the slitting width ranging from
20mm to the original width of the coil. The process supports both
mass continuous slitting and small-batch customized orders,
featuring high production efficiency and short delivery cycles.
Multiple inspection procedures are set up before and after
slitting. Before feeding, the galvanized layer thickness and
surface quality of the original coils are verified; during
slitting, the width and plate shape are monitored in real time;
after the finished products are produced, weighing, coiling, and
packaging are carried out. All these steps ensure that the
specifications and performance of each slit coil meet the customer
requirements.
Slit narrow-width galvanized coils are the core raw material for
manufacturing profiled steel sheets (such as HV-225 roof/wall color
steel sheets), light steel keels, and metal corrugated sheets. The
precise width dimensions can match the feeding requirements of
profiling equipment, ensuring the lap joint accuracy and structural
stability of the formed sheets. They are widely used in the
enclosure systems of industrial plants, warehouses, and steel
structure buildings.
They are used to produce shells, inner containers, brackets, and
other components of refrigerators, washing machines, air
conditioners, and other home appliances. The slit coils can be
directly put into stamping and bending processes. The
high-precision dimensions reduce processing waste and improve
production efficiency, while the intact galvanized coating ensures
the corrosion resistance of home appliance components and extends
their service life.
They serve as the raw material for stamping parts such as auto door
frames, trunk bottom plates, and chassis protection parts. The slit
galvanized coils, with precise dimensions and flat plate shape, can
meet the high-precision stamping requirements of automobile
manufacturing. Their excellent corrosion resistance enhances the
rust resistance of auto parts, making them suitable for the humid
and highly corrosive working environments like automobile chassis.
They are applied to the production of guardrails, shelves, hardware
stamping parts, pipe supports, and other products. Narrow-width
galvanized coils facilitate subsequent processing such as welding,
bending, and punching. Customized slitting specifications can be
provided according to the size requirements of different hardware
products, reducing the raw material cutting costs for small and
medium-sized enterprises.
