In the die-casting and foundry industries, due to the large demand
for molten aluminum, it is usually necessary to transfer the molten
aluminum to a holding furnace next to the machine after centralized
melting. Therefore, the molten aluminum transfer bag has become an
indispensable configuration for die-casting and foundry workshops.
Transfer bags come in different shapes and sizes, and their
functions are also different. Today, we will discuss how to choose
a suitable transfer bag.
Types and uses of transfer bags
Depending on the method of transportation, it is generally divided
into forklift type, suspension (crane) type, and fork-lift
dual-purpose type. According to the different sealing properties,
it is divided into open type and teapot type.
Forklift
Generally, a motorized forklift (diesel or electric) is used to
carry the transfer bags for transportation.
Suspension (crane) type
Generally, a crane is used to hang the transfer bag and then move
it for transportation.
Fork-lift dual-purpose
This type of transfer bag is a suspended transfer bag with a
forklift slot added to the bottom, which can meet the transfer
needs of the above two types of equipment at the same time.
Open
Open bags are transfer bags without covers, which are usually used
for short distances within the factory.
Teapot
The transfer bag is equipped with an insulation cover, and the
water outlet is designed to be tubular, just like a household
teapot. It is made of lightweight castables, can rotate 360°
without aluminum leakage, has good insulation performance, and has
a small temperature drop. It is suitable for long-distance
transportation or transportation that requires long-term
insulation.
Transfer bag selection
It mainly needs to be considered comprehensively from the following
aspects:
- Transport channel space in the workshop: The size of the reserved
space for the aluminum liquid transfer channel directly determines
the transfer method that can be used. When the space is small, only
the suspension type can be selected; when the space is large, both
methods can be used, but the forklift type is usually preferred.
The forklift dual-purpose type is mainly suitable for enterprises
with small workshop channel space and a long distance from the
centralized furnace to the workshop. That is, forklifts are used
for transportation between the centralized furnace and the
workshop, and overhead cranes are used for transportation within
the workshop.
- Loading capacity at one time: If there are a large number of
machines, a forklift is generally used because it has a large
loading capacity at one time and can save transportation time.
- Transportation distance to the workshop: If the centralized furnace
or centralized insulation furnace is far away from the workshop, a
forklift must be used and a cover must be added to achieve
insulation.
- Aluminum liquid temperature requirements (thermal insulation): The
temperature factor is extremely important for the quality of
casting products. For those companies that have strict requirements
on the temperature drop range, thermal insulation must be taken
into consideration, using a forklift type and adding an insulation
cover.
- Cost of use: Forklifts mainly use fuel oil (electric power is
slower and less used), which is expensive to use and requires
regular maintenance. Cranes rely on electricity, require less
maintenance, and are relatively cheap.
- Working speed (timeliness): The forklift type works faster, while
the suspension type works slower.
- Safety: The forklift type is stable in transportation. If it is
covered, the aluminum liquid is not easy to spill. The suspension
type will shake greatly during the lifting process. If it is not
covered, it may spill, which may cause safety hazards such as
burns.
