Description:

The 216DB61 binary I/P and tripping unit is a specialized interface module with 16 input and 8 output channels. It serves as a critical link between protection logic and tripping actions, ensuring reliable signal transfer within the protection system.

The 8 output (O/P) channels are dedicated to transferring tripping commands from activated protection functions directly to the 216GA62 tripping relay module. The 16 input (I/P) channels receive external binary signals from the 216GE61 I/P relay module and forward them via the system bus to the 216VC62a processing unit for logic evaluation.

Physical connections are made through two connectors: the upper connector "a" for inputs CHI01...CHI16, and the lower connector "b" for outputs CHO01...CHO08. A key operational feature is the plug-in jumper BR1 on the PCB, which determines whether the "ENABLE" and "BLOCK CH OUT" functions are active, thereby controlling whether the tripping output channels are enabled or disabled. This enabling/blocking function applies solely to the 216DB61 unit itself.
