• During thermal expansion, it directs excess coolant into the expansion tank to prevent excessive radiator pressure. During contraction, it relies on vacuum to draw coolant back, maintaining a constant main system level.
• Simultaneously, it serves an “air bleed” function, aiding rapid bubble separation when adding new coolant and reducing the risk of air lock.
