Polypropylene Geotextile Maintenance Cycle and Checklist
1. General maintenance cycle (applicable to most common scenarios)
| Maintenance phase | Inspection frequency | Key inspection purpose |
| Construction period (from paving to covering) | Daily + comprehensive inspection before covering | Prevent damage during installation and substandard splicing |
| Initial operation period (within 1 year) | Every 3 months | promptly detect cover loss and early damage |
| Mid-term operation period (1-5 years) | Every 6 months | monitor for signs of aging and changes in permeability |
| Late-stage operation (5+ years) | Every 3 months | Prevent accelerated aging and expansion of local damage |
| Special environments (acidic/alkaline/high temperature/open air) | Once every 1-2 months | Focus on checking corrosion and ultraviolet damage |
II. Scenario-Specific Inspection Checklist
1. Highway/Railway Roadbed Scenario
Visual Inspection: Check for new cracks, subsidence, and subsidence
in the roadbed slopes.
Key Items: Inspect the geotextile for uneven stress, localized
bulging, and cracks at the joints.
Remediation Requirements: Grout cracks promptly if discovered.
Slope collapses require backfilling with cover soil. Damaged areas
should be patched and hot-melt repaired.
2. Water Conservancy Project (Dyke/Underwater) Scenario
Visual Inspection: Check for erosion in the dyke slopes and for
silt accumulation in the underwater areas.
Key Items: Inspect the geotextile for blockage and for tears or
entanglement in the underwater areas.
Remediation Requirements: Clean silt and floating debris, apply a
protective layer to eroded areas, and repair damaged areas with a
special underwater adhesive.
3. Landfill Scenario
Visual Inspection: Check for damage to the cover layer and for
unobstructed leachate collection pipes. Key Items: Inspect the
geotextile for contact with chemical wastewater and for swelling,
discoloration, or damage.
Remedy: Repair damaged areas of the cover layer and clear the leachate pipes. Localized corrosion and damage require the entire geotextile to be replaced.
4. Landscaping/Drainage Layer Scenario
Appearance Inspection: Check for soil loss and surface water
accumulation.
Key Items: Check for exposed geotextiles and for drainage holes blocked by soil or roots.
Remedy: Refill with soil, clean blocked drainage holes, and promptly cover exposed areas with soil or mulch.
5. Acid/Alkali/Chemical Corrosion Scenario
Appearance Inspection: Check for discoloration, brittleness, or
cracking in the geotextile.
Key Items: Inspect for localized corrosion holes and debonding at joints.
Remedy: Regularly sample and test for corrosion resistance. Replace modified, corrosion-resistant geotextiles if signs of aging are present.
