Centrifugal Separation Technology

The disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid
phases in a single continuous process using extremely high
centrifugal forces. Denser solids are forced outward against the
rotating bowl wall while less dense liquid phases form concentric
inner layers. The interface position between liquid phases can be
adjusted for maximum efficiency. Special disc stack plates provide
additional surface settling area, dramatically speeding up
separation. The configuration, shape, and design of these plates
enable continuous separation of various solids from liquids. Solids
can be removed continuously, intermittently, or manually depending
on centrifuge type and application requirements.

Separation occurs inside a rotating bowl. Feed enters from the top
via a stationary inlet pipe and is accelerated in the distributor
before entering the disc stack. Liquid-solid separation happens
between discs, with liquid moving through the disc stack to the
center and pumped out via a built-in paring disc. Solids collect in
the periphery and discharge intermittently through a hydraulic
system that opens solids ports at preset intervals.

Suspension enters the separator bowl from the top through a feeding
pipe into the disc stack. Heavy phase and sludge move toward the
bowl periphery while light phase flows toward the center for
pumping. Heavy phase is led over a top disc into a chamber where a
paring device pumps it out. Solids collect in the sludge space and
discharge intermittently via hydraulic system, exiting through a
cyclone.
Self-cleaning disc stack centrifuges are categorized as purifiers
(separating solids and two liquid phases) or clarifiers (separating
solids and one liquid phase).
