FR-CS80 Series Compact Intelligent Frequency Converter
The FR-CS80 Series is a compact, intelligent, and user-friendly
inverter that integrates versatile practical functions into a
space-saving design, offering cost-effective speed control for
small fans, pumps, and general machinery.
Core Product Features
Ultra-Compact Design for Space Efficiency
Boasting a world-class compact footprint—only 57% the size of
Mitsubishi's equivalent conventional models—it supports
side-by-side installation. Three units can fit in the space
previously required for two traditional inverters, offering
flexible deployment in space-constrained environments. Selected
models are compatible with DIN rail mounting accessories for easier
integration.
Powerful Performance for Demanding Applications
Equipped with universal flux vector control and auto-tuning, it
delivers 150% torque at 1Hz (with slip compensation activated),
ideal for equipment requiring high starting torque such as
conveyors and cranes. Features optimal excitation control that
dynamically adjusts excitation current, achieving significant
energy savings under light-load conditions. Terminals P/+ and N/-
support connection to braking units, meeting regenerative braking
needs for deceleration in material handling and food processing
machinery.
User-Friendly Operation & Quick Setup
Offers three optional operation panels (FR-LU08, FR-PU07, FR-PA07)
for diverse scenarios. The FR-PU07 supports 8 languages and can
store parameters for up to 3 devices. Built-in RS-485 communication

Applications
Small-Scale Manufacturing (Workshop & Light Industry)
Electronics Assembly (Southeast Asia/Europe): Small factories use 1-phase 200V models (0.4kW-2.2kW) to drive PCB
cutting machines, soldering station exhaust fans, and component
sorting conveyors. The compact design fits into narrow workshop
spaces, and the soft start function prevents voltage spikes that
could damage sensitive electronic components.
Furniture & Woodworking (North America/Europe): Cabinet-making workshops deploy 3-phase 400V models (3.7kW-7.5kW)
for small saws, sanders, and drill presses. The 150% starting
torque at 1Hz handles sudden load increases when cutting hardwood,
and the stall prevention function avoids motor burnout during jams.
HVAC & Building Services (Small to Medium-Sized Facilities)
Small Commercial Buildings (Global): Cafes, convenience stores, and office suites use 1-phase 200V
models (0.75kW-1.5kW) for split-system AC compressors, ceiling
fans, and small water circulation pumps. The user-friendly
operation panels with 8-language support make it easy for local
maintenance teams to adjust settings.
Agriculture & Horticulture (Small-Scale Operations)
Greenhouses (Europe/North America): Hobby farms and small commercial greenhouses use 1-phase 200V
models (0.4kW-1.5kW) for ventilation fans, misting system pumps,
and small irrigation pumps. The DC injection braking ensures quick
fan stops during sudden temperature drops.

environments
Frequently Asked Questions
Power Supply & Voltage Issues: We use the FR-CS82S-042-60 (0.75kW,
1-phase 200V) to drive a soldering station exhaust fan in our small
electronics factory in Southeast Asia. The local grid voltage often
fluctuates to 165V, and the inverter shuts down immediately with an
undervoltage alarm. How to fix this?
The minimum allowable voltage for the FR-CS82S is 170V, so 165V is
below the critical value. First, check if the main power terminals
are loose (tighten to 2.5N*m with a torque wrench) to avoid voltage
fluctuation amplification caused by poor contact. Then enter
inverter parameter P021, set "Undervoltage Detection Level" to
"Low", and extend the undervoltage protection delay to 10 seconds.
If grid fluctuations are frequent, install a 1kW single-phase
automatic voltage stabilizer (output range 170-264V) to stabilize
the input voltage.
Installation & Environmental Challenges: We use the FR-CS82S-070-60
(1.5kW) to drive an irrigation pump on a small farm in Africa,
installed under an outdoor shed. After the rainy season, the
inverter's buttons often fail, and moisture traces are found on the
circuit board when disassembled. How to fix this?
The FR-CS80 series has only an IP20 protection rating, which cannot
resist outdoor moisture intrusion. First, wipe the damp areas of
the circuit board with anhydrous alcohol, check for terminal
oxidation after drying, and apply moisture-proof paste to the
terminals after reassembly. Then install an IP55 protective
enclosure for the inverter and raise the installation position to
more than 50cm above the ground to prevent rainwater flooding.
Function Debugging & Load Adaptation: A small bakery in Europe uses
the FR-CS82S-100-60 (2.2kW) to drive a dough mixer. When starting
with hard dough, the inverter reports an overload fault. Adjusting
the acceleration/deceleration time has little effect. What should
we do?
The hard dough causes the starting load to exceed the inverter's
rated torque. First, enable the "Torque Boost" function (set
parameter P019 to level 3-5) to enhance output torque at low
frequencies. Then switch the control mode from the default V/F
control to universal flux vector control (set parameter P001 to 2),
and perform motor auto-tuning (set parameter P051 to 1 and run the
tuning program) to allow the inverter to accurately match the motor
characteristics and improve starting torque.
