• The exhaust flow resistance of honeycomb ceramic particle trap filter element is mainly proportional to the thickness of particle layer deposited on the filter element surface. The larger the filtration area per unit volume, the slower the growth of particle layer thickness and flow resistance. From this point of view, the greater the honeycomb density of the filter element, the better, and the thinner the channel wall thickness, the better. However, the honeycomb density is too high and the channel is too small, so the accumulated particles will increase the exhaust flow resistance and even block the channel. Therefore, the passage of the filter element cannot be made too small.
• The micropores of particle traps are usually micron-sized, which is much larger than that of soot particles. Therefore, micropores can not directly purify, but through other mechanisms, including diffusion mechanism, interception mechanism, inertial collision mechanism and gravity deposition mechanism.
• Diffusion mechanism means that after the trapped particles appear in the flow field, the trapped particles converge on the rest particles, resulting in the concentration gradient of particle distribution, which leads to the diffusion and transportation of particles, and finally leads to the diffusion and capture of particles.
• Interception mechanism means that particles with a diameter greater than or equal to the diameter of the micropore of the filter element are captured when approaching the filtering surface.
• Inertial collision mechanism means that when the exhaust gas flows through micropores, the streamline bends, but because the mass of particulate matter is much larger than that of gas micelles, it hits the filter surface of the filter element and is trapped.
• Gravity deposition mechanism refers to the phenomenon that particles are trapped near the filter surface under the action of gravity, but because of the small mass of particles and the fast exhaust velocity, the influence of gravity deposition is often ignored.
• In the working process of DPF, the properties of particulate matter, exhaust flow rate, temperature, DPF specifications and material characteristics have important influence on the collection efficiency of DPF.
